Installation and Commissioning Manual

Installation and Deployment Manual
Enkey's delivery includes:
- Gateway
- HAN port meter
- Relay
- Climate sensor
- Temperature sensor
- Power meter
All material delivered by Enkey is pre-configured and connects automatically to the gateway when powered on. All components have a unique ID that ensures you do not confuse their placement!

Enkey Gateway
- The gateway is powered from a Schuko wall outlet.
- The gateway is network-connected with an RJ45 patch cable.
- The gateway is preferably mounted on a wall using the included wall bracket.
- The antenna on the gateway should be positioned VERTICALLY for optimal radio conditions.
- If necessary, a longer antenna is included, depending on the distance to the various devices.
- The gateway should always be deployed first!
Internet Connection
- The gateway is network-connected to the internet, if applicable via a 4G router or built-in 4G connection.
- If the LAN port in the 4G router is occupied, a switch and additional patch cables may be needed.

HAN Port Meter
- The HAN port meter is connected with an RJ12 cable to the subscription meter.
- If the HAN port is occupied, a splitter may be needed.
- The HAN port meter receives its power from the subscription meter.
- Mount the device VERTICALLY for optimal radio conditions.

Relay
- The relay is powered with 230V according to a separate diagram.
- Potential-free relay contacts are connected to the heat pump according to a separate diagram.
- The relay is installed in a standard enclosure if it does not fit in the heat pump/electric boiler/appliance cabinet.
- When the relay is mounted in the heat pump/electric boiler/appliance cabinet, or if the relay and gateway are in different rooms or buildings, a separate antenna should be used.

- Mount the antenna VERTICALLY for optimal radio conditions.
Operating the Relay:
- LoRaWAN should light up with a steady green light.
- Red push buttons operate the relay outputs, Channel 1 controls RLY1, Channel 2 controls RLY2.
- Each press gives Manual OFF → Manual ON → Remote control (auto mode).

Climate Sensor
- The climate sensor measures temperature, humidity, and sometimes CO₂.
- Place the sensor about 1.5 m above the floor.
- Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources, ventilation openings, and exterior walls.
- See How should I measure temperature and humidity? and How should I measure CO₂?
Activation / Deactivation
- ON: Magnet on the label "ILS”/gears for >1 s until the green LED lights up.
- OFF: Magnet on the label "ILS”/gears for >5 s until the LED turns off.

Temperature Sensor
- Different temperature sensors are used to measure hot water, supply air, exhaust air, etc.
- Different sensor types are used depending on the technical solution.

- The cable from the sensor is connected according to this image:

Power Meter
- The power meter is connected to the power supply of the heat pump.
- Installation takes place in the electrical panel, heat pump, or standard enclosure depending on local conditions.
- An external antenna is used at longer distances and should be mounted VERTICALLY for optimal radio conditions.

- Ensure that the external antenna is activated in the menu!
Activating the external antenna in the power meter:
- First, mount the antenna (the meter explicitly warns against changing the setting without a connected antenna).
- Go to the menu page LoRa Antenna on the display.
- Short press “SRVC” to enter adjustment.
- Use the right arrow to select External.
- Long press “SRVC” (>2s) to save and exit.
Configuration of Heat Pump/Electric Boiler
- The heat pump and/or electric boiler to be controlled by the relay must be configured according to the supplier's instructions.
- Enkey provides diagrams and manuals as needed.
- Contact Enkey during configuration so that a correct SAT test can be performed.
Application Examples
During high electricity prices, the heat pump and supplementary heating are blocked. Temperature sensors can interrupt the blocking if necessary. Power measurement is used for optimization and savings calculation.
Preparatory Work Before Installation
- The HAN port should be activated.
- Have the activation magnet available for potential activation of wireless sensors.
- Check that all material has been delivered.
- Ensure that necessary enclosures and installation materials are available.
Installation and Commissioning Procedure
- Install the Gateway
- Power on the Gateway and check the indicators: POWER, STATUS, LoRa, WiFi, ETH, LTE
- If the Gateway is connected to LAN, ETH should light up.
- If the Gateway is equipped with a SIM card, LTE should light up.
- Mount and power on, and if applicable, activate other devices.
- Contact Enkey for verification and functional testing to ensure a correct SAT is performed.
